Unions at ESB say they will not be making any decision on their response to planned plant closures until the new energy minister meets them to discuss the Government's white-paper proposals on energy.
The company recently approved the closures as part of a deal with the energy regulator that will allow the company to build a new station in Cork Harbour.
The move is in line with the Government's proposals, which are designed to break up the ESB and introduce more competition in the sector.
The ESB unions have already said they will only co-operate with the shutdowns as part of an overall review of the Government's white paper on energy.
Speaking after a meeting in Dublin today, they say they will not decide their long-term strategy until Minister Eamon Ryan meets them to discuss the planned reforms.
