ESB International got a major boost today with the signing of a contract with the Syrian government worth over £1m.
The company, which employs 700, beat off competition from a number of other countries to secure the deal.
The contract means that the International division of the ESB will be involved in the major expansion of the electricity network in Syria, including project management and site construction.
Spokesman for the ESB, Michael Kelly, says the company is delighted with the deal.
