Decent gains on ISEQ

The ISEQ index of Irish shares showed a steady rise by 11.45 today, gaining 15.98 points to 2,114.66.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares showed a steady rise by 11.45 today, gaining 15.98 points to 2,114.66.

The financial sector enjoyed a welcome day of optimism so far, with all the firms gaining ground.

Irish Life and Permanent led the way, soaring 15c to €1.05. Bank of Ireland was up 4c to 45c, with Allied Irish Banks climbing 3c to 62c.

Other significant gains included DCC (up 19c to €12.09) and Paddy Power (up 29c to €12.64).
