Birmingham midfielder Robbie Savage has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association after allegedly elbowing Chelsea’s Mateja Kezman.
The Wales international has until 6pm tomorrow to accept a punishment of a three-match ban, which comes into force immediately, or to lodge an appeal.
If Savage decides on the latter then an FA disciplinary commission will meet in London on Thursday to decided his fate.
The alleged incident took place during Saturday’s meeting with Chelsea at St Andrews which the visitors won 1-0 courtesy of a Joe Cole goal.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho condemned Savage’s actions after the game but his Birmingham counterpart Steve Bruce leapt to the defence of the ex-Leicester City star.
If Birmingham decide to appeal, then under the new regulations they would risk any suspension being increased if the FA still find Savage guilty.
