English detectives armed with new forensic evidence arrested a man today in connection with the rape of a teenage girl 28 years ago.
A 62-year-old man was arrested at his home in Swanscombe, Kent, by officers from Thames Valley Police.
On April 25 1980, a 17-year-old girl was walking home from a night out along Micklefield Road in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, when she was dragged to a nearby railway embankment and raped by two men, a force spokesman said.
He added: “Officers working with the Crown Prosecution Service and the Forensic Science Laboratory have uncovered significant new forensic evidence, which led to the identity of the person in custody.”
