The Bank of Ireland business banking's latest job index shows that the total number of jobs advertised last month rose by 5% compared with the same month last year.
IT recruitment is up by 66% which is the highest recorded in the index. Manufacturing jobs show a 39% rise, but construction jobs are down 3%. Also down are jobs advertised in the public sector, these fell 23%.
The professional and leisure sector saw jobs advertised rise by 10% . Retail jobs are up 42%, Bank of Ireland says these figures suggest that retailers are gearing up for a busy Christmas.
The monthly survey counts the amount of jobs advertised in the Daily's and the Sunday papers and has been in existence for 20 months.
