Richie McCaw revealed New Zealand have been working on their scrum ahead of Sunday’s Pool C clash with Scotland.
The All Blacks have been in superb form so far in this World Cup, a 76-14 thrashing of Italy being followed up by a 108-13 rout of Portugal.
Most facets of their game appear to be functioning well, but captain McCaw admits the scrum is a concern.
“Things have not been bad so far, but we’ve worked on physical things and worked on the scrum,” said the star flanker.
“The scrum we were not too happy with, so we decided to put a bit of time into that.
“I think this week we have to take a step up. Scotland are going to be a tougher challenge and everyone must have a bit more of an edge.
“This week feels like you’re in a bigger Test match. From this week on, it is five weeks of big matches.”
New Zealand’s team for the Murrayfield encounter will be named tomorrow afternoon.
