Italy full-back Andrea Masi has been handed a three-week ban for a dangerous tackle on Ireland’s Robert Kearney last Sunday.

The Six Nations disciplinary committee handed down the punishment today when Masi attended a hearing in west London.

Masi was sin-binned for the tackle, which came inside the opening minute of Italy’s 38-9 loss at Stadio Flaminio in Rome.

The ban rules the Biarritz man out of the game against Scotland at Murrayfield on February 28 but he will return in time for the home clash with Wales on March 14.
