Martin Scorsese is to direct Leonardo DiCaprio in a biopic of Howard Hughes.
It was originally thought Michael Mann would direct the film.
But Scorsese is now believed to have taken over, with Mann producing.
Jim Carrey and Christopher Nolan are also working on their own film about the reclusive millionaire.
Scorsese's version will focus on Hughes' early life, when he was a aviator and movie mogul. It ends in the early 1950s, before Hughes became a recluse.
Filming is due to begin in the autumn, said reports.
