Clare hurler Honan wins U21 award
Bord Gáis Energy have chosen Clare's U21 hurler Darach Honan as their 'Breaking Through' player of the year.
Honan, who plays for Clonlara, beat off competition from other stars such as Galway's Joe Canning, Kilkenny’s John Mulhall and team mates John Conlon and Colin Ryan.
Honan claimed the €1,000 prize following his role in bringing Clare to their first ever All-Ireland U21 final.
The forward put in two man-of-the-match performances during the year, against Waterford in the Munster Final and in the thrilling semi-final encounter with Galway.
