Route taken by Soham murder trial jury

The jurors in the Soham murder trial travelled today from the small Cambridgeshire town across the Fens to the remote ditch in Suffolk where the girls’ bodies were found.

The jurors in the Soham murder trial travelled today from the small Cambridgeshire town across the Fens to the remote ditch in Suffolk where the girls’ bodies were found.

This was their route:

9.52am – leave Soham Village College through College Close and College Road, along Clay Street, High Street, Churchgate, Pratt Street, Hall Street, Townsend, Holmes Lane and Northfield Road.

Travel across the A142 Soham bypass and on to the Great Fen Road, along the Prickwillow Road (B1104) on to Putney Hill Road and along Prickwillow’s Main Street. Take the Mile End Road before joining Mildenhall Road (A1101) on to Shippea Hill. Cross the Burnt Fen turnpike and turn left into Farthing Drove and on into Newmans Drove and Highbridge Gravel Drove.

Take the B1112 into Lakenheath and turn on to Station Road, passing Quayside Court – home of Ian Huntley’s grandmother Lily Gollings – on the right at 10.37am.

Turn on to Wangford Road and then on to Common Drove before halting at the base of the unclassified track which leads towards The Carr at 10.44am.

Walk up the track, pausing beside the site where the bodies were found, at 11.02am, before continuing up to the perimeter fence of the airbase. Double back down the track and get back on the coach at 11.29am.
