Plans for more talks between Britain and Spain over Gibraltar were postponed in Brussels this afternoon.
British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw had been due to hold a first meeting with his newly-appointed Spanish counterpart, Ana Palacio.
But at the last minute she had to fly to Rabat for talks with Morocco over Spain’s other rocky problem - Parsley Island.
‘‘It was only due to be an initial introductory meeting with no negotiations of substance, and Mr Straw looks forward to meeting the new Spanish foreign minister very soon,’’ said a British Government spokesman.
