A man driving past the prime minister’s residence in the Indian capital New Delhi was shot and injured by an unidentified assailant today, police said.

A man driving past the prime minister’s residence in the Indian capital New Delhi was shot and injured by an unidentified assailant today, police said.

Details were scant, but police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said the victim was in a moving car driving past Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s residence when he was hit by a bullet.

The wounded man then pulled over and approached police officers guarding the road, who took him to a nearby hospital.
