Posh rockers The Thrills are to headline a gig for children’s charity, Barnardos next month, it emerged today.
The south Dublin band are currently recording their third album.
Their debut 2003 record, So Much for the City hit number one in Ireland and spawned a number of catchy singles like Santa Cruz, Big Sur and One Horse Town.
The band will join The Blizzards, Duke Special and The Coronas for the Help a Dublin Child Gig in the Olympia hosted by FM104 radio.
The March 31 concert aims to raise over 50,000 euro for Barnardos, which is headed by former Labour Party spin doctor Fergus Finlay.
“We provide services that challenge disadvantage and offer new hope for children’s futures,” a Barnardos spokesman said.
“But we could not do it without the support of concerts such as this.”
All artists are performing for free on the night.
FM104 managing director Tim Fenn said: “We’re thrilled that so many big Irish names have come on board to support Help a Dublin Child gig. This will be one of the most exciting and talked-about music events in Dublin this year.”
