UN forces could be in Kabul by next week

British military officials say foreign troops could begin arriving in the Afghan capital of Kabul as early as next week.

British military officials say foreign troops could begin arriving in the Afghan capital of Kabul as early as next week.

However the bulk of the international force could take as long as four weeks to deploy.

Britain is planning to send in a team of around 200 military personnel later this week to prepare for the the United Nations' mandated force.

Germany is the latest country to agree to send a force to the country.

They have pledged 1200 troops out of an antocipated 5000, a figure yet to be accepted by Afghanistan's new interim government.
