The first complete broadcast of an execution in the United States will be aired on New Zealand public radio.
An 11-minute recording of an execution in Georgia in 1984 will play on National Radio on July 1, with a warning it may offend.
A Public Radio Special Report: The Execution Tapes has never been broadcast outside the United States.
Atlanta lawyer Mike Mears obtained them along with 18 years of audio recordings of executions in Georgia, where 23 men have been electrocuted since 1983.
Listeners will also hear parts of executions that have gone wrong, including one of an inmate taking 13 minutes to die, reports said.
Radio New Zealand says it does not want to sensationalise the report and will follow the recording with a live debate on capital punishment.
The programme is being broadcast because the execution of Timothy McVeigh focused international attention on the issue.
