UCD 1 Bohemians 0
Dean Clarke's early winner gave UCD a big lift as Bohemians, who finished with ten men, left the UCD Bowl utterly deflated.
The victory, only UCD’s second of the season, moves them two places up off the bottom of the table.
It was a night of utter frustration for Bohs who thought they’d snatched an 88th minute equaliser only for substitute Kevin Devaney’s effort to be ruled out for offside.
Aaron Callaghan's side then had midfielder Keith Buckley shown a straight red card a minute later, apparently for dissent to a linesman.
The game's only goal came on nine minutes when Bohs’ midfielder Ryan McEvoy gave the ball away cheaply and Gary Burke’s through ball put Clarke in to slide his shot beyond keeper Dean Delany.
Unhappy with referee Padraigh Sutton all night, Bohs' had a big penalty shout ignored by the Clare official on 69 minutes. Mulligan’s initial drive was parried by O’Donnell with Lyons’ follow-up appearing to be handled by UCD captain Dave O’Connor as he somehow kept the ball out on the line.
