Two men have been arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism, police in Britain said today.

The men, aged 18 and 32, were arrested at 7am this morning and are being held at a central London police station under the Terrorism Act 2000, Scotland Yard said.

Two addresses in east London are being searched by police.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: ``At approximately 07:00hrs today, Thursday June 28, officers from the counter-terrorism command arrested two men under the Terrorism Act 2000 on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

“The men were arrested at separate residential addresses in east London. Both addresses are currently being searched under the Terrorism Act 2000.”

The investigation is still in its early stages, but the arrests are not thought to be linked to any significant plot.
