Ferrari have been hit with a €10,000 fine after five-time world champion Michael Schumacher hit Mark Webber’s Jaguar in the pit-lane today during first practice for the French Grand Prix in Magny-Cours.

The German was released too early by his lollipop man after coming into the pits during the session and hit Webber, taking the front wing off the Australian’s car as he headed back to the circuit.

Ferrari’s team manager was called before the stewards, who imposed the €10,000 fine after ruling that Schumacher had been released from a pit-stop position before it was safe.

Webber went on to set the fastest time in practice with Schumacher back in sixth place.
