French challenger Diamond Green will miss the Ultimatebet.com 2000 Guineas after suffering from an interrupted preparation.

The Green Desert colt is unbeaten in three starts, including the Group Three Prix la Rochette, and was as low as 8-1 for the first Classic of the season.

“It is nothing serious, but he missed some important work last week and we are now unable to prepare him for the Guineas,” trainer Andre Fabre told the Times.

Diamond Green is now likely to make his seasonal reappearance in the Prix de Fontainebleu at Longchamp later this month, where he could face other top-drawer performers Bago and American Post, before a possible crack at the Poule d’Essai des Poulains.
