Freed reporter held in Afghan cave
A female Canadian journalist who was freed after four weeks in captivity in Afghanistan said she was held in a small underground cave where she could barely stand up.
Mellissa Fung, a reporter for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation told Afghanistan’s intelligence chief in a video released today that her captors watched guard over her in the tiny cave for the first three weeks of her abduction.
Ms Fung said that in the last week of captivity they chained her hands and feet and she was left by herself.
Ms Fung said her captors never hurt her, but that she was kept blindfolded. She was released on Saturday.
In the videotape Ms Fung can be seen telling Canada’s ambassador that she’s not hurt and that she hopes people will not make “a big fuss”.
