This afternoon’s meeting at Catterick has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.
Clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson called an inspection for 9am after the North Yorkshire venue was hit by a significant volume of rain overnight.
And with further rain on the way, he was left with no option but to call off proceedings.
Sanderson said: “We have three bad areas, two of which have very little structure at all and are just giving false ground.
“In the back straight, across both the hurdle course and the chase course, we have a width of waterlogged ground with water on the surface.
“If we had a more favourable forecast it may be different, but we have lots of rain due from now until the first race.
“We’ve had over an hour without any rain and the situation hasn’t improved, so it’s certainly not going to improve when the rains come back.”
