McFly star wishes ex the best
Dougie Poynter has insisted he is happy ex-girlfriend Frankie Sandford had found love with Wayne Bridge.
The McFly guitarist – who is currently receiving treatment in rehabilitation centre The Priory - was left devastated after The Saturdays beauty called time on their romance but despite her moving on with soccer star Wayne, he’s pleased she is happy.
When asked about Frankie’s new romance, Dougie told Star magazine: “Look, it’s cool – so long as she’s happy, that’s all I can ask for. Although I wanted to date Wayne Bridge, so I’m a bit jealous, to be honest. I’m gonna do one better.
“I’m gonna have an affair with Wayne Rooney. Prostitute myself.”
Dougie had been getting over his heartbreak with the help of his bandmates – Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd and Danny Jones – and was staying with Tom prior to entering rehab last week.
Danny said: “I haven’t had a one-to-one chat with him since it happened because we’ve been so busy with the tour, but I said to him last week, ‘We need to go for a beer and a catch-up.’ He’s living with Tom at the moment, so it’s all good.”
Tom added to new! magazine: “Our houses are next door to each other. We’d see each other every day anyway so he’s moved in with me since he split up with Frankie.”
While Dougie insisted he was happy about his former flame’s new romance, his bandmates aren’t convinced it will be a long union.
When asked if the relationship would last, Tom said: “I’m not sure.”
Danny was more forthright, saying: “No, I don’t think so. I personally couldn’t give a s**t what she does.”
