A major security alert has been sparked at Manchester Airport after police were warned a bomb was on a plane.

A major security alert has been sparked at Manchester Airport after police were warned a bomb was on a plane.

The aircraft, from Pakistan, landed at 9.10am and all passengers were evacuated.

It was then taxied to a safe area away from airport buildings. Police are monitoring the situation.

Greater Manchester police said a call was received at 5am today.

None of the airport buildings was evacuated, and passengers are being advised to arrive at the airport as normal.
