NUJ and RNAI in talks to avert local newspaper strike

The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Regional Newspapers Association of Ireland (RNAI) are due to hold talks today in an effort to avert strike action at 27 local newspapers.

The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Regional Newspapers Association of Ireland (RNAI) are due to hold talks today in an effort to avert strike action at 27 local newspapers.

The NUJ has served strike notice over the association's move to pull out of the existing pension scheme, pleading an inability to pay a 12% increase in contributions.

The union is refusing to withdraw this notice until it gauges the stance of the RNAI at the Labour Relations Commission today.
