Netflix to increase price for new subscribers

Streaming service Netflix is set to increase prices for new subscribers to its 2Stream service.

The company says that the price increase from €8.99 to €9.99 a month for the two-screens-at-a-time plan to allow it to add more new films and TV shows.

However, existing 2Stream customers will be “grandfathered” for one year, with prices staying at current rates until at least August 2016.

Charges for the standard-definition 1Stream service and the 4Streams HD service are not changing from €7.99 and €11.99 respectively.

“To continue adding more TV shows and movies, including many Netflix original titles, we’re modestly raising the price of our 2 stream, HD plan for new members,” said a Netflix spokesperson.

“As a thank you to existing members, their current plan and price will not change for one year.”
