IBEC today expressed serious concern at today’s proposed 33.8% increase in gas tariffs from October of this year.
This increase is the result if Ireland's 90% import dependence on surging European wholesale gas prices.
IBEC’s energy executive David Manning said: "This increase has serious negative implications for the manufacturing industry in Ireland. This is an issue of critical national importance which the Government must address with a suite of measures to alleviate the cost burden."
