Richard Gere will need all the warm clothes he can pack when he heads off to the Antarctic to play photographer Bruno P Zehnder in Emperor Zehnder, a film about the penguin enthusiast’s life.
The film will concentrate on Zehnder’s passion for photographing Emperor penguins in the Antarctic and his love affair with a New York doctor who accompanied him on one of his trips.
Based on an article in Vanity Fair, the film will be directed by Gregory Hoblit, who previously directed Gere in Primal Fear.
Gere, who was nominated for a Golden Globe award for Chicago, will make the film after he co-stars with Jennifer Lopez in a remake of the 1996 Japanese film Shall We Dance?
