South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have taken an unusual approach to warning people about the dangers of cooking while drunk.
They have opted to grab the public’s attention by teaming up with musical group the Everly Pregnant Brothers to produce the song and accompanying video, ‘Chip Pan’.
It has to be seen and heard to be believed.
Set (loosely) to the tune of Kings of Leon hit, ‘Sex on Fire’, the song tells a cautionary tale.
“Wooaaaaaaaoooohh, me chip pan’s on fire!’
“I should have had a pizza or had a kebab, but I couldn’t be bothered, I thought I was clever… and now my house is on fire.”
“This record is clearly a bit of festive fun, but with chip pans still responsible for large numbers of house fires every year, we think there’s a safety message in there somewhere,” assistant chief fire officer Martin Blunden told Metro.
“We also want to remind people that tens of thousands of firefighters and 999 operators – not to mention many more of their colleagues in the emergency services – will be on duty this Christmas keeping people safe.”
It’s certainly catchy, we’ve an awful feeling we’ll find ourselves humming this for weeks.
