Filming of the mega-production Alexander the Great, starring Nicole Kidman and Leonardo DiCaprio, may be moved from Morocco to Australia because of terrorism fears.
Variety newspaper, in its Cannes film festival edition, says the film's producer, Dino De Laurentis, seems likely to desert an enormous studio, south of Marrakesh, constructed for the film.
He said the reason was the May 16 suicide bombings in Casablanca, where 41 people died.
"Any important American actor could become a target," De Laurentis said. "I cannot take that risk."
He said if the situation did not improve in the next six months, he would definitely transfer filming to Australia.
Director Wolfgang Petersen recently put off filming scenes in Morocco of his Homeric epic Troy, which stars Brad Pitt as Achilles.
