Cavan GAA chiefs have confirmed that they won't be rushed into appointing a successor to former football boss Mattie Kerrigan.

Cavan GAA chiefs have confirmed that they won't be rushed into appointing a successor to former football boss Mattie Kerrigan.

All-Ireland winning Derry manager Eamon Coleman has shot into the frame as a likely successor, given his links with Cavan where he lives and manages county champions Gowna.

However, Coleman is currently on holidays so the situation is likely to take weeks and even months to sort out.

County chiefs have admitted that's not a problem for them with the national league not resuming till February.
