The National Hunt meeting at Taunton on Monday has been abandoned due to snow.

The West Country area has been one of the hardest hit by the recent snowfall and over four inches fell overnight.

With temperatures not forecast to rise much above freezing for the foreseeable future, clerk of the course Michael Trickey was left with no choice.

More snow is forecast and a low of minus 9C overnight is expected.
