Spice Route will step up in class to tackle the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The King’s Best colt has won two of his three starts to date, lifting a competitive handicap at York’s Dante meeting on his latest outing.

Trainer Michael Bell is now eyeing a leap to Group Two company with Spice Route, who is out of the handler’s 2001 Italian Oaks winner Zanzibar.

“The plan is to run in the King Edward VII. He is a very progressive horse and we expect him to run a good race,” said Bell.
