Meteor, the state's third mobile operator, increased its revenue to €45.5m in 2002, up from €13.5m in 2001, the year it launched.
During that period, it also drastically cut its pre-tax loss to €32m in 2002, from €71.7m in 2001 and capital expenditure fell from €46m in 2001 to €10.8m in 2002.
With the near-completion of its network it was also able to reduce staff numbers, which averaged 300 in 2002.
However, the company has struggled ever since it started operations and has been unable to increase its market share to more than 4%.
The company says that its coverage now extends to 87% of the population, though it still does not have a network in Donegal.
