France’s Gregory Bourdy went from five ahead to two behind in the space of five holes at the Portuguese Open final round today.
While Bourdy bogeyed the second, third and sixth England’s Miles Tunnicliff birdied them all and when the 39-year-old added another birdie at the long seventh he was one ahead of South African playing partner Charl Schwartzel.
They were 16 under par and 15 under respectively, Schwartzel having eagled the seventh, while Bourdy fell into a tie for third on 14 under with back-to-form Ryder Cup star David Howell and Spain’s Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.
Ireland's Rory McIlroy and Damien McGrane are both on 12 under after after seven and nine shots respectively while Paul McGinley is three shots further back after 12 holes and Darren Clarke has finished the tournament on nine under.
