Kevin Ryan’s Uhoomagoo will go to post for his 99th career start in Saturday’s totesport International at Ascot.
The admirable eight-year-old was back in the winner’s enclosure at Royal Ascot after a typically gutsy display which yielded a neck defeat of Appalachian Trail in the Buckingham Palace Stakes.
After finishing third behind Court Masterpiece in the race two years ago, Ryan hopes his stable stalwart can land another big pot at the weekend.
“He’s an intended runner on Saturday and he’s in good order,” said the Hambleton-based handler.
“It’ll be his 99th start and he’s an amazing little horse really – he very seldom has a day when there is anything wrong with him.
“He finished third in this race two years ago but he won the Beeswing at Newcastle on this weekend last year and we had the choice of the two races again.
“He runs so well at Ascot though – he never runs a bad race there – so we decided on the International.
“He won on good to firm at the Royal meeting, so the firm ground won’t be a problem to him at all.”
