With eircom League clubs currently on the lookout for ways to cut down on their expenses for the coming season, one club has already begun to instigate a new cost-effective way of admitting club members to their home games.
Last season’s Premier Division runners-up Bohemians are to pilot a new membership software scheme to allow its members quick and easy access to Dalymount Park on match days.
The solution developed by Club 2000 is due to installed at the Gypsies’ grounds in two weeks time ahead of their first pre-season friendly against as yet unnamed opposition. Bohemians will be the Irish football club to use the system, which has been implemented worldwide through various golf and rugby clubs.
Phase One is expected to begin shortly with members issued with a special swipe card, allowing them access to the ground via a members-only turnstile. On swiping, the turnstile attendant will receive a ‘go’ signal from the software if the card is validated. The system will not allow multiple entries to the same match.
The second phase is expected to allow members to put money onto their membership card which can then be spent in any of the club bars, or used as payment towards membership fees or international tickets. Previously members of the Phibsboro club had been issued with a printed card.
