Soccer: We don't fear anyone in Europe now - Houllier

Gerard Houllier has warned Europe that his Liverpool side can beat anyone on their day.

He was speaking after seeing his team sweep Porto aside with a 2-0 win at Anfield in the Uefa Cup quarter-finals.

Liverpool will go now into the semi-final hat along with Barcelona, Alaves and Kaiserslautern.

Houllier said: "I really don't care who we play next, on our day we can beat anyone.

"But I feel a lot of teams will be very wary to play Liverpool now.

"Even Roma were not happy to draw us in the last round. We don't fear anyone."

Liverpool are still on course for a cup treble, and Houllier added: "Winning the Worthington Cup last month has given us a taste for cups, now we want to win the other two as well."

Man-of-the-match Michael Owen said: "The whole team played well, scoring twice in the first half allowed us to play at a slower pace after the break and kill the game off.

"We are now in the semi-finals of this competition and the FA Cup as well, having already won the Worthington Cup, and that's not bad. The treble is on but our priority is still to qualify for the Champions League.

"We are in two semis and we have a fighting chance of winning three cups this season, we intend to try and win the lot."

Liverpool surged past Porto 2-0 on aggregate and face their first European semi-final since the Cup Winners' Cup semi in 1997, when they lost to Paris St Germain.

Houllier added: "The team deserved great appreciation. It is never easy at 0-0 after the first leg, but we managed to control most of the game.

"After we scored we had the confidence, we were on top of them and stayed that way. The players deserve credit for that.

"Over the two legs we deserve to qualify, Porto have more experience on the European stage than us, but we are learning and getting very self-assured, determined."
