A car bomb blast in eastern Colombia killed three people and wounded at least six others today.
The victims of the blast, which occurred on a rural road, were all civilians, police said.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but two left-wing rebel groups are active in the area and have carried out similar attacks in the past.
The region of Arauca state is one of the most dangerous in Colombia. Despite efforts by President Alvaro Uribe to beef up security in the area, attacks by rebels continue.
US special forces are expected to arrive in Arauca this month to train Colombian troops to protect an oil pipeline that is the target of frequent rebel attacks.
