He has been scaring filmgoers since the first Nightmare On Elm Street two decades ago, but Robert Englund does not mind being typecast as the murderous Freddy Krueger.
“I’ve dropped out of colleges and the Boy Scouts, I’ve quit the swimming team, gymnastics team and track team and I figure Freddy is the one thing in my life I want to finish,” he tells the New York Post.
“They’ll have to carry me off. I’ll be playing Freddy on a walker.”
Englund returns as the slasher-killer in Freddy vs Jason in which he battles the hockey mask-wearing killer from the Friday The 13th films.
Asked to choose the most frightening of the two serial killers, he says: “I think there are different kinds of scare. Jason’s relentless but Freddy’s such a mind game. He can get inside your head and twist you out.”
