'Slug' pleaded for Corry return

The 34-year-old actor - who re-appears in the ITV soap as evil Slug - had such a brilliant time as barmaid Becky Granger's boyfriend the first time round he was desperate for a comeback.

He said: "I didn't need any persuading to come back. I was asked back twice before but was doing other work at the time, so I thought I'd missed the boat.

"I wrote a letter to the producers, saying that if they ever wanted Slug to come out from under his lettuce leaf, I'd happily return to the show. So it's great to be here again - I really enjoy it."

Slug returns to the street to see Becky (Katherine Kelly), but although he manages to charm her, viewers will be shocked when they discover the real reason for his appearance.

Marshall explained to Inside Soap magazine: "In his own weird, Slug-like way, he does really like Becky, but he's also got a deal going with Hooch, the policeman who hates Becky.

"I reckon Slug's probably been caught doing something he shouldn't, and as part of a bargain he's helping Hooch out. Normally, Slug wouldn't be able to stand someone like Hooch so something weird must have gone on."
