Nelly’s new single, My Place/Flap Your Wings, has stormed to the top of the British charts, depriving Natasha Bedingfield of a three week stint as number one.

New entries from Nelly, Jojo, the 13-year-old pretender to Britney’s throne, and rapper Twista pushed Natasha’s These Words down to number four yesterday.

JoJo’s single, Leave (Get Out), went in at number two and is her first assault on the British chart.

Twista’s Sunshine was third in line, preceding Natasha at number four and other fallers, 3 of a Kind by Baby Cakes at five and Dumb by The 411 at six.

Embrace’s new single, Gravity penned by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, was the next highest new entry, going in at seven.

She Will Be Loved, by Maroon 5, fell five places to number nine and Guns Don’t Kill People Rappers Do by Welsh group Goldie Lookin Chain also fell five to number ten.

The album charts brought some good news for The Libertines as their new album, Libertines, went straight in at number one.

Last week’s chart toppers, The Prodigy, fell to fourth while Maroon 5’s Songs About Jane and Keane's Hopes and Fears were non-movers at number two and three.

Just scraping in at number nine and fresh from appearing at the Olympic opening ceremony in Athens was Bjork with her fifth studio album Medulla.
