Dublin minnows Killester live to fight another day as they frustrated Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds in the shock of the FAI Carlsberg Cup this season.

The AUL champions bring Sligo back Tolka Park on Thursday night for a fully deserved replay after the eircom Premier Division highfliers failed to break them down.

Killester were excellent in the first half and never looked overawed as they created the best opening on 18 minutes.

Mark O’Connell sent over a good cross from the left and John O’Hara in the Rovers goal had to be alert to make the save from Michael Keogh.

Sligo pressed for much of the second half with Chris Turner wasting a good opening on 72 minutes when heading wide from Gavin Peers’ cross.

Paul McTiernan then brought the best out of Killester keeper Lee Murphy minutes later as the Junior side earned a second chance.
