Ex-McCartney aide to pen Beatles 'Fanthology'

A former aide of Sir Paul McCartney is to tell the story of The Beatles from a new perspective – through the words of fans.

Geoff Baker, who was publicist for the musician and his late wife Linda for many years, is to write the history of the band through the memories and photos of those who saw and encountered them.

Baker has previously shied away from spilling the beans on his years with Sir Paul and says The Beatles Fanthology will be the only Fab Four book he will write.

A former journalist, he also worked at Beatles company Apple Corps under the band’s press officer, Derek Taylor, for the Beatles Anthology project.

He is now asking fans to send him stories, recollections and pictures of the group.

“The fans made the band and they have continued to make the band through five decades – but I feel their crucial side of the story that Derek called ’the 20th century’s greatest romance’ has never been told properly before.

“I’m reasonably qualified to write this book and it is the only Beatles book that I shall ever write.”

The book will cover the birth of the band in 1957 and continue to the present day.

“I’m looking for those little moments that may be personal to one but will be understood by us all,” said Baker.

Baker is asking fans to email him at geoffbakerbeatlesfanthology.com to contribute to the book.
