Dundalk have signed former Middlesbrough striker Chris Freestone on a one-month loan deal from Shrewsbury Town.

Dundalk have signed former Middlesbrough striker Chris Freestone on a one-month loan deal from Shrewsbury Town.

The 31-year-old played 13 games for ‘Boro under manager Brian Robson before being sold on to Northampton.

Freestone will make his Dundalk debut in tomorrow night’s First Division Cup game against Sligo Rovers.

He is also expected to be part of the squad for next week’s UEFA Cup tie against Varteks of Croatia if his paperwork is cleared in time.
