Private security staff today sealed off the entrance to a church where supermodel Claudia Schiffer was expected to marry.
Onlookers said the entrance to St George’s Church in Shimpling, Suffolk was being closely watched and journalists were not being allowed near the church.
There was also a heavy security presence at the nearby Elizabethan mansion which Miss Schiffer has bought and where she is expected to hold her wedding reception.
Miss Schiffer’s wedding to film producer Matthew Vaughn is expected to take place this afternoon.
Details of the arrangements have been shrouded in secrecy and Miss Schiffer has made no official statement about the event.
A number of celebrities from the showbusiness world are rumoured to be attending.
Miss Schiffer has persuaded Suffolk County Council to temporarily close a public footpath which runs alongside Coldham Hall so that the reception can take place away from prying eyes.
Scores of journalists are expected to gather in Shimpling for the event.
Police say they will have 20 officers on duty, who are being paid for by Miss Schiffer.
