Helicopters have lowered rescuers into the crater of a volcano in the continuing search for survivors of the El Salvador earthquake.
The rescue mission was launched at the San Salvador volcano after workers at a nearby television tower reported hearing screams coming from the crater.
Eight farmers had been presumed dead after the quake toppled the rim of their crater where they cultivated their crops.
Six Salvadoran tourists were rescued from inside the crater on Sunday.
Helicopters airlifted one rescue squad to the bottom of the ravine and mountain-climbing experts from Mexico scoured the crater walls for any sign of the farmers.
Two more teams are set to leave.
The mayor of San Salvador also called for international aid to be distributed more quickly, saying it is not reaching those who need it most.
The death toll slowed from its previously rapid climb, rising by four yesterday to 687 - including six in Guatemala.
The government has stopped releasing figures on the number of people missing, saying previous tallies in the hundreds may have been exaggerated.
