A strong earthquake has hit El Salvador.
The quake has sent tremors through the country which is still recovering from a quake last month that killed hundreds.
There is no immediate news of damage or injury.
Local radio stations say government helicopters are assessing the damage.
Don Blakeman of the US Geologic Survey in Colorado, described it as an aftershock of the January 13 quake that killed at least 827 people, with hundreds still missing.
He says today's quake has a preliminary magnitude of 5.7, qualifying it as a moderate earthquake.
The tremor hit about 50 miles south-east of the capital, San Salvador, roughly the same spot as January's quake.
Residents in the capital fled into the streets in panic as the tremor hit shortly before 1430 GMT.
