Ex-BAA chief set for Dublin airport role

A former chief executive of the British Airports Authority (BAA), Mike Hodgkinson, is expected to be announced as a director of the newly formed Dublin airport company this week.

A former chief executive of the British Airports Authority (BAA), Mike Hodgkinson, is expected to be announced as a director of the newly formed Dublin airport company this week.

The appointment of Hodgkinson is seen as a boost for transport Minister Seamus Brennan who has been engaged in a long running conflict to separate the three Aer Rianta airports in Dublin, Cork and Shannon.

Brennan is expected to complete the Dublin board appointments this week.

There is wide speculation that Paschal Taggart, who resigned from the chair of the Bord na gCon last Thursday, has been approached, along with Bill Cullen, the owner of the Renault franchise in Ireland.

Gary McGann, the CEO of the Jefferson Smurfit Group, is thought to have accepted the role of the airport's chairman.
