Hunger sets in for Big Brother housemates

The Big Brother housemates were coming to terms with their hunger pangs today after Federico caused them to fail the weekly task for a second time.

Their failure means the already-starving contestants will have to survive on a food bill of £36.23 (€50.80) after betting 65% of their budget on successfully completing the Cub Scout task.

Despite performing numerous Cub Scout parades, pitching a tent and tying complex knots, Federico caused the group’s downfall when he failed in the knowledge test.

While all the other members managed to answer their question about the history of the Scouts correctly, Federico recited the Cub Scout promise instead of the Cub Scout law as asked.

But the 23-year-old waiter from Glasgow seemed oblivious to his failure when the group learned of the outcome.

“I said the promise word for word,” he told the group, perhaps not realising his mistake.

“I did not get one word wrong, I’m telling you. I took 25 seconds at least. Thought it over in my mind,” he said.

Last week the Scot failed the 72-hour pedalling task when he left the stationary pedalo to fetch some chewing gum, against Big Brother’s rules.

The last cut in their shopping budget has caused more than a few rifts in the group this week as they argued about who is eating too much.

During this week’s task, the group had to perform a Cub Scout salute in full uniform within two minutes of being called to parade.

Jon, Justine and Cameron successfully pitched a tent in the garden of the fly-on-the-wall house, while Sissy, Tania, Ray, Nush and Gos completed the knot-tying element of the task.

Finally all the housemates had to answer a question on the Cub Scout movement, all passing with flying colours except Federico.

Last week Federico managed to escape eviction, despite his error in the task.

Tomorrow either boring Jon, 29, a data strategy manager from Staines, or sales manager Justine will leave the Channel 4 show, after being nominated by their fellow housemates.

Even though this is the second time Jon has faced the chop, bookmakers still predict he will escape eviction.

Ladbrokes make Leeds girl Justine, 27, favourite to get the boot at 1/3 while Jon is 5/4.
